13 THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2021

Well, I am just going to go ahead and say it, Good Riddance 2020. Absolutely no one is going to miss you. I recognize that we are only a short time into this new year but I am cautiously optimistic that good things are coming our way. Sure not all of it will be immediate, but soon…and with the promise that 2021 will be greatly improved over its predecessor. I am looking forward to doing stuff, I am looking forward to stuff to look forward to…does that make any sense? What 2020 has taught us that even with the best-laid plans things can go awry, off the rails…and sometimes there is squat one can do about it.

Things are changing. The tunnel is long, but wait, what is that I see…could that be light?

So encase you need a few things to look forward to, and show me someone who doesn’t, I have put together my 2021 List. Tell me what you are looking forward to this year. Let’s make a frickin, fantastic, kick-ass list…and let’s get it done!!

13 THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2021

BEING WITH FRIENDS

I MISS YOU GUYS! I want to sing out loud, proud, and off-key Saturday night at The Duke of Kendal. I want to not have to ask to hug you. I want the only bubbles we talk about to float in our champagne glasses. Sure Zoom and Facetime have been great, but I look forward to seeing you live…and soon

GOING TO BARS AND RESTAURANTS

In The Bar in Spain, A Broad In London.jpg

Such a simple thing we have taken for granted, the luxury of sitting down to a wonderful meal that someone with greater culinary skills than ourselves has prepared for us and with an overpriced bottle of wine, enjoy. I cannot wait until I scan the CN Traveller’s Recommended List of Restaurants and one by firkin one knock them off my Eat-It List.

PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

Few if any of my friends (Sharon you are my glorious exception) will not agree on this one, the swearing-in of the new US President Joseph Biden on January 20th. I may not be American but I have to say I have never been more excited about an election result than this one. I hope that with the new administration comes a certain calmness, undoubtedly Twitter will never be the same. I for one am optimistic, and man that feels good.

TRAVEL

I am someone who lives to travel, so one of the things I have missed most this year is grabbing my passport and getting my ass anywhere. I recognize this may look a little different for awhile but it is my hope that we will be able to take to the skies soon-ish. My travel might have to stay a little closer to home for the first part of this year, but I am optimistic, somewhere out there in 2021 there is a spectacular beach with my name on it.

FRIENDS REBOOT

Ok, I can’t be alone in this, right? I know that at any given hour on any given day we can turn on our television and get teleported back to Central Perk. But the long-awaited reunion is on its way. In the words of Chandler Bing, “could I be any more excited?”.

A few other celluloid moments I eagerly anticipate; my Queens Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler hosting once again the Golden Globes. A remake of West Side Story by Steven Spielberg, and yes, I am even excited about the delayed Bond film, No Time To Die. Talk about your Covid fatigue Mr Bond.

LIVE THEATRE AND PERFORMANCES

Frozen The Musical.png

I so miss going to live theatre and there is a lot of noise that come the fall London’s West End and New York’s Broadway will be up and running again. Perhaps to smaller audiences but up and running nonetheless. A few of the productions I am looking forward to seeing are Pretty Woman and Back To The Future, cause I am happy when they take a movie I love and attempt to have us all sing along. For all of those with younger audience members, Frozen The Musical will no doubt be a smash. And for those living in New York who wouldn't want to see husband and wife Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker star in Plaza Suite. Just to name a few.

WIDESPREAD COVID-19 IMMUNITY

I think that we can all agree that we look forward to talking about COVID-19 in the past tense. Help is on its way, be patient.

SUPER TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE

I love it when Mother Nature gives us a great light show. On May 26th there will be a full lunar eclipse. Best seen in Australia and parts of Western US.

DINNER PARTIES

This is another one high on my list, as I am certain my bubble has grown board with me. I am happy to host, go out, eat out, or head to your place. It is coming folks, and when it does I will be happy to cook for you all.

TOKYO SUMMER OLYMPICS

We know this year we have been without a lot of live sports and for the most part, this girl could not care less. However, my sporting exception is the Olympics. As we all know the Tokyo Olympics got postponed a year but have been rescheduled for July 23- August 8th. So I will be happily cheering on my two favorite countries Canada and the United Kingdom. Go Team Go.

ADELE’S NEW ALBUM

Seriously I have worn out all her others from excessive overplaying. Other artists scheduled to drop their albums that I am excited about, The Killers and The Cure. Drake too has a new album due this year, but sorry Aubrey, I won’t be listening to that one.

MY FIRST BOOK

I am getting close folks and I am super excited. Hopefully, with a little luck, you will have something else to read from me. Something with actual paragraphs and a dust-jacket.

HUGS

Hugs iat Burning Man .jpg

I think out of my entire list the thing I have missed the most in this insanity we have called 2020 was hugs. So just so know friends of mine old and new, when allowed I will be coming for you. I will wrap my arms around you so tight, and will not stop hugging first. This, I will remind you is what love feels like. You are warned, you know who you are. I cannot wait.

Here is to a great New Year…for all of us. xocf.
